Automatic, Controlled Ventilation

All homes that have been air sealed below 4 air changes per hour (ACH) need a mechanical ventilation system that operates automatically. This ventilation brings in fresh filtered air and expels stale air to maintain superior air quality for the health of the occupants. To reduce energy loss in zero energy homes, heat from the ventilated air can be captured rather than wasted by installing heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) or energy recovery ventilators (ERVs). These ventilators bring fresh air into a home and expel stale air, while retaining about 70% to 85% of the heat from the discharged air and returning it to the incoming air.  

Heat Recovery Unit Features

The heat recovery unit utilizes a high-efficiency AC copper motor with dynamically balanced ABS centrifugal fan wheels. It includes a metal casing with a spray paint finish, an ER paper exchange core, and multiple filters.
In an HRV, the outgoing stale airflow and incoming fresh air flow go through separate pathways with a heat exchanger. As they move through, the heat/energy from the outgoing air is transferred to the incoming air.

Fresh air enters through three filters with different functions:
1. primary metal filter could remove PM 2.5, fine particulate, hair, and mosquitoes;
2. activated carbon filter absorbs harmful gases, odors, and formaldehyde;
3. HEPA-13 filter blocks airborne pollen, allergens, bacteria, and mold spores.
